This is a paid, remote position.
Position Summary
The Development Intern will report to the Senior Development Associate and support the Development team by updating, organizing, and maintaining key fundraising materials. This role will focus on updating grant proposal text banks, ensuring donor-facing materials accurately reflect current programs and services, and supporting the team’s broader fundraising efforts. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist with institutional funder and individual donor prospect research to support ongoing development initiatives.
The Development Intern will support the following key activities:
Update grant proposal text banks and donor-facing materials to reflect changes across TechSoup’s programs and services
Collaborate with program teams, as needed, to gather updated program descriptions, key activities, and impact metrics to support accurate grant proposals and donor-facing materials
Support institutional funder and individual donor prospect research, including compiling background information and organizing findings
Assist with organizing and maintaining Development team materials for internal use
Provide general research, documentation, and administrative support to advance the team’s fundraising goals, including assisting with concept notes and grant writing as needed
Through this internship, the Development Intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and development operations. The intern will build practical skills in grant proposal development, donor communications, and prospect research, while learning how fundraising materials are developed, updated, and managed in a mission-driven organization. By collaborating with program and development staff, the intern will gain insight into how programmatic impact is translated into compelling grant proposals and donor-facing materials. This role also offers exposure to institutional fundraising processes, including concept note development, grant writing, and internal coordination across teams.
Qualifications
Knowledge:
Social sector, nonprofit and philanthropy knowledge preferred but not required.
Research, writing, and editing skills with a desire to improve these skills throughout the internship period.
Skills:
Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Diplomacy and teamwork; with both the U.S. team and international partners.
Effectively use the internet for research.
Abilities:
Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
Communicate effectively in both a written and oral capacity.
Interact in a professional manner with a wide variety of people.
Ability to graciously accept feedback and incorporate into one’s work.
Ability to work well with the team, as well as individually on assigned projects.
Education:
Any combination of education and experience providing the skill and knowledge for successful participation and learning in the internship would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Must be actively and presently enrolled an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level; or graduated in the spring semester and applying for a post-graduation internship to gain experience.
An interest in learning about the social sector, nonprofits and philanthropy.

The hourly rate for this internship position is $17/hour-$21/hour plus benefits. TechSoup determines salary ranges based on role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum targets for new hire hourly rate for the position across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by location and other factors, including geography, relevant education or training, business needs, and market demands.
