Social Media Intern

Internship

The Social Media Intern will learn how to create video, photos and blogs that can be optimized for social media and what processes need to be followed. The intern will learn what’s involved in engaging with organizations and individuals through social media in a professional, fun, innovative manner.

All interns must be actively and presently enrolled an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level; have at least 1 year of experience in communications, public relations and marketing.

Please note: this is a part-time (up to 25 hours per week), three-month internship located in the San Francisco office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize listening tools for growth of influencer program.
  • Work with team to flesh out training program for Fall, Winter, and Spring.
  • Learn from and support social media manager to increase engagement on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Work with team on creation of new storytelling content.

Expected project outcomes:

  • Development of the Ambassador program.
  • Growth of Internal TechSoup Digital Engagement program (series of trainings for internal staff to promote TechSoup).
  • Growth of the Instagram program.
  • Greater influencer outreach utilizing listening tools.
  • Growth of the storytelling program (short videos and blogs).

Goals for the intern:

  • Work with social team to develop multimedia and social media skills.
  • Improve writing and communication skills while learning processes for creating the organization’s marketing content.
  • Learn how to use social media to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in communications, public relations, and marketing.
  • Social media and non-profit knowledge preferred.
  • Multimedia software knowledge and experience with photo and video editing in Photoshop and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Diplomacy and teamwork.
  • Social media savvy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Interact in a professional manner with a wide variety of people. 

Education

  • All interns must be actively and presently enrolled in an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level.
