Mobile Apps Research Intern

About Caravan Studios

Join the team at Caravan Studios as we work to improve access to needed resources in communities around the world.  Caravan Studios is a division of TechSoup, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in San Francisco, CA.  We use technology so that communities can organize, access and connect to the resources they need.

Our design thinking methodology has community input throughout, ensuring the developed applications are necessary, and meets the needs of the community. We believe that communities should be deeply involved in developing tools to solve the problems they face.  And they don’t have to be coders to do it.

We build apps for social good and we build them along with the community who needs them.

Internship Opportunity

The Caravan Studios Internship program offers students a combination of practical real world experience, formal and informal mentoring activities, as well as networking and community building skills. We offer a unique and well-rounded internship experience, as well as an introduction to future employment and career opportunities.

This internship is geared for individuals who are interested in developing and expanding their knowledge in research and planning to further the use and application of the 4Bells Mobile Apps in Latin America.

About 4Bells

Chaos & disorder describe the aftermath of all major disaster scenarios. When hurricane, earthquake or man-made disasters strike, organized volunteer responses are critical to mitigate further losses and ensure community wellbeing. Effective communication between volunteers and coordinators is needed to launch a coordinated volunteer response, but existing tools often fail to meet these needs. 4Bells is a complete logistics solution designed to help deploy volunteers in order to meet time-sensitive needs.

The intern’s work will focus on exploring geographic and political regions where Caravan Studios tools and resources can be best utilized. The process includes analyzing and researching community needs and existing services in countries and regions of Latin America.

The research completed and the documents produced will guide our work in the use and distribution of our apps, programs and services. It will also inform the development of new and/or existing programs and service that are in demand among community members.
